Jamaica!

Wiggy and I have just returned from an incredible week long vacation to Jamaica! We had an absolutely wonderful time and really needed that week away together. It was our first real vacation since our honeymoon 4 years ago! We planned the trip around Christmas time and we were able to stay at a wonderful resort, Couples Swept Away, in Negril for a very very small fee as I served as the Fitness Instructor for the week and taught 2 classes per day. Those of you who know me well know that I love to teach classes and this was by no means work for me!

I could go on and on about our resort but I'll just name a few of my favorite things:

1. Everyone says Yah Mon all the time and it's contagious
2. The hammocks on the palm trees on the beach were fantastic
3. The food was amazing! Specifically the mangoes, the 2 "fancy restaurants" especially the Thai restaurant called Lemongrass, our daily fresh salads with all kinds of toppings for lunch, the lemon coconut sorbet AND the extra spicy bloody marys! We also had room service for breakfast everyday.... how's that for all inclusive?
4. The beach was amazing... 7 miles of beautiful turquiose water. Also they gave us mats for our chairs that also work as rafts.. comfy and convenient
5. The evening entertainment never failed to impress. Each night there was live music of all different kinds. One night there was a bonfire on the beach with a singer/guitarist singing old love songs. Another night there was a Jamaican party on the beach. One night was a talent show and then late night there was a nice nightclub for dancing... ALL on the resort!
6. The staff was super-friendly
7. We took tennis lessons everyday from Rob.. the tennis pro for the week with a similar set up as I had
8. The gym was fantastic.. they had everything and it was all nice and new and in good working order... that makes a fitness pro happy!

Finally, the resort was just beautiful. Wiggy said it well..." it's like they built the resort around the landscaping rather than the other way around". ahhhh... Jamaica.... we'll be back, I'm sure of it! Now just 2 short weeks before intern year begins... I think we're trying to savor them while also anxiously anticipating the upcoming year. I'm so glad I have a lot of girlfriends that will be surviving intern year with me!!! Will post pics soon!
